<ARTIST STATEMENT>

Communication,

the most brilliant

gift for human, regards

an individual's piece of truth

being transferred to others and

assimilated as their truth. Its medium

sometimes be words or actions.

At sixteen years old, I moved to a country in un-

understandable language. This incidence interested me in

nonverbal interaction. Especially Art. A piece of art created

by an artist in different culture is possible to speak instinctively,

sensuously, and equally to people in any background. Art is boundless

in neither time nor space because it addresses Universal Truth. Art is the

supreme way of communication in human gifts and its role is to express about

being human.

Currently my works are structured by groups of geometric patterned pieces on grid formats.

Issue on individual versus others. Even though individuals are different from each other, when

they gather, certain characteristics become being formed. Such equilibrated and unified groupings

are fact of individuals' appreciation on others, and not of individuals' fusion or cancellation by

other. It is the basic command of Communication. Individuals reflect to whole and whole

reflect to each individual. Many incidents structure one person, which structure a

society, which structure a nation. Such code of relativity can be found in life

(i.e. cells vs. lives) to astrophysics (i.e. atoms vs. planets), and is physical

and psychological phenomenon of universe. Individuals recognizing

others lead to awareness on relationship of self and larger being.

Color, pattern, and textures, which are substance of found-

materials or subtly manipulated, are positioned on fund-

amental and rational shape. Entire installation is

created by third person's interaction of pattern

making in a ready existing space. Strictly

systemized works in minimized conscious

in fact reveals my subtle identity.
